I've always said that my ideal super power would be the ability to read peoples’ minds; not for anything sinister, but because the mind intrigues me and surprises me in ways I never knew possible. For years, I wanted to know what everyone else was thinking, but eventually, I realized the much harder question was why. Therapy is a unique and powerful tool that few people have in their arsenal. It is used to grow, adapt, and become the best version of yourself possible. My hope is I can infuse the love of therapy and growth into both avid therapy supporters and skeptics. If therapy was easy everyone would do it. Growth comes from understanding ourselves and our behaviors as we reflect on our experiences from our childhood, trauma, relationships, and more.
I see my role in this as a partner along the journey with you. I intend to focus on who you are and who you want to be. Sometimes those two things don’t align and it is just a unique puzzle we can figure out together. Relationship therapy is one of my focuses. Sometimes couples are desperately searching for each other. Other times, they are trying to recover from something specific. Whatever the reason, attending therapy with your partner or family is a huge step towards rediscovering the happiness that comes from loving another person with your whole heart. I believe we are all inherently social beings that desire connection. Relationships we have with friends, family, and partners influence our day to day.
My therapeutic approach is from a humanistic perspective that focuses on your goals as an individual or couple. However, I love to borrow techniques and skills I have found to be most helpful to my clients with an emphasis on narrative therapy and the use of attachment theory. We can learn a great deal about past and present YOU through an attachment lens that guides our therapeutic journey. I strive to create a unique experience for each individual through collaboration with my clients as we gain insight into our behaviors, thoughts, and feelings. There is hidden power in finding control over the stories we tell about our experiences. I believe the quality of the relationship we have with ourselves influences the quality of the relationships we surround ourselves with.
Born and raised in San Diego, I enjoy the extensive food and beverage scene that has blown up over the last 10 years or so. Whether it’s a food truck in a parking lot or a fine dining restaurant downtown you could easily find me there enjoying anything and everything on the menu. Finding myself on the psychology track during my undergrad at San Diego State University was no surprise to my friends and family. As the eldest child and constant shoulder to cry on I love being the person others feel they can talk to. I pursued this passion attaining my masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant international University and have not looked back since. Helping clients grow inspires me and gives me purpose. Being a role model for health work life boundaries I try to have an active social life outside of work. My current favorite things to do are enjoy a Saturday night San Diego Wave NWSL soccer game with my season tickets or spend a lazy night in with my loving girlfriend and pup cooking together and watching reality competition shows.
